Lake Water Restoration

Lake water restoration is the founding mission of Awake Palmer Lake and the work that never stops. Palmer Lake is a natural lake that has always required human stewardship to maintain healthy water levels. Without active management, drought conditions and water rights challenges threaten to turn Palmer Lake into Palmer Pond — or worse.

Our restoration work includes infrastructure improvements to reduce water loss, advocacy with state and local water authorities to secure storage rights, environmental monitoring, and community education. We work with engineers, hydrologists, and government officials to ensure Palmer Lake has a sustainable water future.

The stakes are high. Palmer Lake is the geographic, historical, and cultural heart of this community. It gives the town its name. It draws visitors, supports wildlife, and provides recreational opportunities that define life here. Keeping it full is not optional — it's essential.
